Biography

Creative Director and Thought Leader with 25+ years of experience in design, particularly in the digital domain. My style is any style.

My forte lies in building and mentoring an inter-disciplinary team of designers, copywriters, animators and UX specialists and leading and empowering them to conceptualize, visualize and execute creative digital digital solutions with immersive user experiences for the customers.

The digital domain has its own set of challenges. There is a constant churn of ad banners, webpages, landing pages, microsites, websites, apps, newsletters, infographics, motion graphic and whatsmore.

Despite the churn and in spite of turnaround times that are now measured in hours and even minutes, I have striven to maintain a balance between aesthetics, functionality and user experience. Between tints and shades. And, between lines, shapes and forms. Even in this responsive era where designs are expected to render seamlessly irrespective of the interface / device used.

This is because my foundations do not lie in digital. They lie in a profound appreciation for art. The "old" arts – drawing, sketching, painting. And, also because my transition from paper and canvas to LED was organic and evolutionary.

And, because I learnt the fundamentals of art first and the tools to deliver it later (don't mistake me, I am not knocking on all those Photoshoppers out there), I seem to better understand branding needs and strategies. Which is why, maybe, transferring a client's offline style and ethos to their digital properties seems to come naturally to me.

I have picked up a few bad habits along the way as well. Workaholilsm for one. Lip service to work-life balance (this is one "balance" that I admit, I haven't got right). And a nitpicking obsession for quality. Bordering on OCD. Ok, that’s deep into OCD territory – not just borderline.

But I don't seem to have done too badly out of these either. My teams have stayed, by and large, stable. My peers respect my aesthetic judgement.

Finally, my poison of preference is coffee – black and strong. Shall we meet up for a cuppa anytime soon?!
