the People

PROJECT BACKGROUND

People’s Bank is recognized as Sri Lanka’s undisputed market leader for financial services. The Bank has been operational for over 56 years with as many as 737 outlets and Self Banking Units with CDM/ATM/Kiosks. They have about 17.4 million customer accounts.

CHALLENGE

The main goal and challenge of this project was to push things beyond the client's expectations.

Our task was to redesign the previous version of the website. The new site should be mobile responsive with intuitive navigation, and have a new creative interactive approach to sell their products and services, and increase the amount of website visitors.

Our partnership with the People's Bank also involves designing a multi-lingual user interface for their ATM. We needed to come up with a complete user flow design for their ATM screens in Sri Lanka’s three main official languages – English, Sinhala and Tamil.

SOLUTION

At the beginning of the creative process, we met with the client and stakeholders and based on the information gathered, designed low fidelity wireframes, high fidelity designs for their corporate website and user interface design for their ATM transaction flows and Cash Deposit Machines (CDMs) in all three languages. To maintain style and consistency in design we had to build a new style guide for the brand.

The implementation was done on the most powerful Open Source CMS – Drupal. The website was designed accordingly to Responsive Web Design guidelines. Usability improvements were highlighted during the user feedback sessions. Functionalities that were implemented include the interactive comparison-based product display based on the user needs and wants, and the sticky side panel for quick for easy reach out.

RESULT

After months of hard work and user research we delivered an innovative website for People's Bank - the most recognizable banking site in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The website is informative, and promotes the brand and sales. All the information about the products and services is presented along with an interactive product and service comparison, which allows the user to find the right products suitable for his needs and wants. We also came up with a new look and feel for all the ATM screens in three different languages – English, Sinhala and Tamil. Information architecture positively affected the convenience and intuitiveness of the website navigation for users. The technical solutions and functionalities used on the website improved the communication, strengthened the informative function and perfectly fitted the marketing strategy to improve the sales of the products and service. https://www.peoplesbank.lk/
